Ammon News – Jordan’s trade balance surplus with the United States during the period January-November 2021 was $1.384 billion, according to the president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham), Mohammad Batayneh .
Jordan’s exports in the first 11 months of 2021 almost hit $2.5 billion, compared to $1.12 trillion in imports, Batayneh said in his interview with ‘Petra’ on Saturday.
Batayneh noted that products from the garment and textile industries are Jordan’s top exports to the US market, followed by engineering, foodstuffs, Dead Sea products and jewelry.
Jordan has started exporting its services online through digital economy transactions, whether in the fields of engineering or information, which would have a “significant” impact on Jordanian exports in the years to come, he said.
Jordanian-US relations are “closer than ever”, thanks to the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his “distinguished” relationship with Washington, he said, praising US support for the Kingdom to deal with “difficult” economic conditions, he added. Noted.
Jordan was the first Arab country to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States in 2000, which entered into full force in January 2010.
